GivingStump for tree service contractors — frequently asked questions

Question 1

How do I get tree service leads without paying per lead?

Accepted Answer

On GivingStump a homeowner posts the job, local tree pros bid on it, and the homeowner picks who they want. Seeing a job costs nothing, bidding costs nothing, and asking the homeowner a question on the listing costs nothing. Commission is charged only when you win the work: 5% for the first 50 founding contractors, locked for three years from signup, and 8% standard after that. There is no per-lead charge, no subscription, and no charge at all for a job you do not win.

Question 2

How much does GivingStump charge contractors?

Accepted Answer

Joining is free and there is no monthly fee. When you win a job, commission comes out of that payout — 5% if you are one of the first 50 contractors to sign up (locked for three years from your signup date), otherwise 8%. That commission is the only charge GivingStump makes to a contractor. It is paid out of work you won, not out of your marketing budget.

Question 3

Is Angi or HomeAdvisor worth it for a tree service business?

Accepted Answer

We will not quote another company's prices here — read their own current pricing page before you sign anything, because those terms change. What we can state precisely is the difference in model. Lead-generation platforms bill you for the contact: you pay whether or not the homeowner hires you, and whether or not they ever pick up the phone. GivingStump charges a commission on work you actually won and never charges for a lead. The question worth putting to any lead vendor is simple: what do I pay when I lose the job?

Question 4

What is the free QR code and share link GivingStump gives contractors?

Accepted Answer

Every contractor gets a personal share link and a matching QR code, both free, under "Your referral link" in the contractor dashboard. The link opens the job form with your business already attached, and the QR code points at that same link. Download the QR as a PNG and put it on a business card, a truck door or a yard sign. A homeowner who scans it starts a quote request with your name already on it.

Question 5

How do I turn a yard sign or truck door into quote requests?

Accepted Answer

Download your GivingStump QR code as a PNG and hand it to whoever prints your signage, or text your share link straight from your phone. A homeowner points a camera at the code, describes the work in a couple of minutes, and the request lands on GivingStump attached to you — you are notified directly. Printing it, scanning it and receiving the request all cost nothing; you pay commission only if you win the job.

Question 6

If I bring my own customer, do I keep the job?

Accepted Answer

The job arrives attached to you: your business name is on it and you are notified directly, whatever your service area or specialties say. Be clear-eyed about the trade-off, though — GivingStump is a marketplace, so other local pros can still quote that job and the homeowner can compare. We do not promise exclusivity. You pay commission only if the homeowner picks you.

Question 7

Where does GivingStump accept tree service contractors?

Accepted Answer

Contractor signup is open across the United States and we are recruiting nationwide as we grow. Be realistic about timing: homeowner demand today is concentrated in the Washington, DC metro area and the I-95 corridor, which is our launch market. Outside that, the part that works for you immediately is your own share link and QR code, which bring your customers onto the platform wherever you operate.

Question 8

What do I need to bid, and what do I need to get paid?

Accepted Answer

Registering as a contractor is enough to bid. There is no manual approval queue, no connected bank account and no completed verification standing between you and your first offer. Two things must be in place before a homeowner can award you the job and pay you: GivingStump has confirmed your business is real and operating, and your Stripe payout account is connected and active. Do both early so you are not scrambling the day a homeowner picks you. One more applies only at the top end: a job over $5,000 needs Premium Verified status.

Question 9

How and when do I get paid on GivingStump?

Accepted Answer

Payment runs through Stripe. When a homeowner awards you the job they pay up front, GivingStump holds the payment, and the money is released to your connected Stripe account once they confirm the work is complete. Commission is taken out of that payout. Holding the payment cuts both ways on purpose: the homeowner knows money only moves for finished work, and you know the money is already there before you roll a truck.

Question 10

How do I sign up as a tree service contractor?

Accepted Answer

Sign up free at givingstump.com/contractor/signup with your business details and service area. You can start bidding on jobs straight away. Get your business verified and your Stripe payout account connected so you are ready to be awarded work, then open "Your referral link" in the dashboard to grab your share link and QR code.
